Our community members come from diverse backgrounds—authors, poets, aspiring and professional writers, journalists, college professors, graduate students, select undergraduate students, teachers, retired teachers, business professionals, creative professionals, and other literature-lovers—but must possess these very important qualities:
- A personal identity as a creative writer (fiction writer, poet, journalist, literary essayist, etc.)
- A sincere appreciation for the craft of writing and reading
- An insatiable curiosity and a love of learning
- A desire to share that love of writing and learning with others

Bring Our Program To Your School. Be an Ed Fellow.
Deep’s (Ed)ucation Fellows are creative, innovative, and motivated full-time employees—at any of the 18 middle schools in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS)—who partner with Deep to give students and teachers a stronger voice in their community. These public middle school teachers collaborate on one of the largest project-based learning experiments in Georgia by coordinating Deep's Young Author scholarships at their respective schools and creating a lively dialogue with Deep about public education in Savannah. Ed Fellows have different backgrounds and curricular focuses but share three important qualities:
A deep appreciation for arts education and creative writing
A sincere belief that every student has the aptitude for excellence
An insatiable curiosity and a love of learning
